Brian Brenberg, associate professor of business and finance and chair of the program in business and finance at The King’s College, has been named the Values & Capitalism Visiting Professor for the 2017-2018 academic year. Values & Capitalism is an initiative of the American Enterprise Institute, a nonpartisan public-policy research institute in Washington, D.C.

The mission of the Values & Capitalism program is to “engage Christian higher education to advance a moral case for free enterprise and cultivate an understanding of the conditions necessary for human flourishing.” Professor Brenberg has been involved with the program for several years, speaking at conferences and events.

As the Values & Capitalism Visiting Professor, Professor Brenberg will collaborate with the program on campus-speaking events, major conferences, and a number of other initiatives. The position lasts for one year and has previously been held by Dr. Stephen Smith, a professor of economics at Hope College, and Dr. Gregory Alan Thornbury, the president of The King’s College.

“I was delighted to serve as the inaugural Values & Capitalism Visiting Professor in the 2015-2016 academic year,” says President Thornbury. “I am excited for Professor Brenberg to have this opportunity. Values & Capitalism is doing interesting and important work, and it is wonderful that they have once again selected a scholar from The King’s College to partner with them.”

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Professor Brenberg,” says Tyler Castle, program manager for Values & Capitalism. “His scholarly expertise, giftedness as a communicator, and helpful voice on the relationship between Christian faith, business, and economics will contribute much to Values & Capitalism’s work in the coming year.”

Professor Brenberg is excited about his appointment to the position. “The Values & Capitalism initiative at AEI is catalyzing important conversations on faith, creativity, and enterprise at college campuses around the country,” he says. “They’re leading with energy and hope, and it’s a joy and welcome challenge to join with them in their vital work.”

In addition to teaching at the College and serving as the Values & Capitalism Visiting Professor, Professor Brenberg is a frequent guest on several FOX News and FOX Business programs and a regular lecturer for the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE). He has written for many publications, including USA Today, Forbes.com, CNBC.com, the New York Post, and The Hill, and his speeches have been covered by Time and the Washington Post.
