Jay A. Mancini ‘71 retired in 2016 as Haltiwanger Distinguished Professor of Human Development and Family Science at The University of Georgia. He is also Professor Emeritus of Human Development at Virginia Tech, where he served on the faculty for 32 years. His new book is titled Family Stress Management: A Contextual Approach, with Pauline Boss and Chalandra Bryant (SAGE Publications, 2016).

Andrew Schatz ‘10 has completed his Master’s in Business Administration at Fordham University as of this May.

Deborah Harrison ‘74 writes, “I’m still in the loop of life in Christ! I retired from 37 years of teaching in 2010 and am volunteering at nursing facilities three days a week with my two therapy dogs (Therapy Dogs International). I am healthy, happy, and alive in Christ!”

Sharon (Blasko) Reno writes that her father, Timothy Blasko ‘60, stepped joyfully and painlessly into heaven on Friday morning, June 9, 2017 at Garden Spot Village, PA. His wife, Shirley F. (Rarich) Blasko ‘56, survives. Born in Atlantic City, NJ, he was the son of the late Moses and Mary (Henaluk) Blasko. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the Air Force. He then received a Bachelor’s Degree from The King’s College and a Master’s Degree from Montclair State University. Tim was a middle school teacher, teaching American history and outdoor education. In his retirement, he became a Master Gardener and a nurseryman. After moving to New Holland, he attended The Community Church at Garden Spot Village. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Sharon Reno and a son Peter S. Blasko, granddaughters Amy C. Reno and Megan Udinski (Adam), a great-granddaughter Lucy Udinski, and a brother, Rev. Paul Blasko. He was preceded in death by his son Michael and brother Mark. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA with Chaplain Chet Yoder officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 -2 p.m. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be posted at www.groffeckenroth.com.

Elaine Kemp writes, “A dear friend and longtime supporter of The King’s College, BobMax’ Maxwell ‘76 has died suddenly. He was a music education major, played numerous instruments, and could sing any part. Maxwell was the college photographer for years and served on the alumni executive committee. His memorial service will be held on June 24, 2017 at 3:00pm at the Rod and Gun Club on Martha’s Vineyard which can be accessed either by ferry or Cape Air.” To connect with Elaine for details, please email alumni@tkc.edu.

Nancy (Weir) Stombaugh ’85 writes that her father, Richard Weir, former Associate Professor of English at King’s, went home to be with the Lord on May 12 at the Reformed Presbyterian Home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was 93 years old. Professor Weir served as an adjunct instructor in the English Department at The King’s College from 1975-1983, then full-time from 1983-1994. He was Chair of the English Department from 1989-1994. He then returned as an adjunct English professor for about one year when King’s reopened at the Empire State Building in 1999. Visitation hours will be on May 24, 2017 at 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville, NY. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 25 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ridgefield Park Reformed Presbyterian Church, 310 Main St., Ridgefield Park, NJ. Interment will follow at approximately 12:30 a.m. at the Bronxville Cemetery, 18 Midland Ave., Bronxville, NY. A memorial service will also be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24 at the Reformed Presbyterian Home, 2344 Perrysville Ave., Pittsburgh, PA on June 24 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Reformed Presbyterian Home.
