Charlotte Eudoxia Hernandez was born on March 4, 2018 to Maggie (O’Leary) Hernandez (’14) and her husband Evan.
Margaret “Peggy” Callender-Clyne (’64/’65) writes, “I graduated from Northeastern Bible College twice: the second time was after the school had received additional accreditation. I believe my former professors (including Dr. Olsen, Dr. Lincoln, Dr. Johnson, and Stanley French) would be pleased to know that I have self-published two books with WestBow Press. How to Live Holy is especially timely during this Easter season of remembering our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Northeastern’s sound Bible teaching definitely grounded my faith. And Mrs. Johnson’s (Dr. Johnson’s wife) passion for teaching children helped to influence Thought Power, my self-published children’s book. Although my major was Bible-Missions, the few teaching courses I took with Mrs. Johnson helped prepare me to start a Christian Day School in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands in the ’60s connected to Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. I later began New Life Day Care and Learning Center in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, where my husband and I retired. I want to express how thankful I am for those teachers’ sincere love for God and their desire to impart it to us students. We prayed before class! And as for Mrs. Johnson, you could sense the presence of God and know that she relied upon Him to be the real Instructor. She was just a vehicle. After some 60 years, I can still remember her saying that our goal as teachers should be for the children to know something, feel something, and do something. I truly hope that The King’s College—as an extension of Northeastern—makes Jesus Christ the center of instruction. I pray that the present-day students will grow to know and love Jesus, that they will acquire more than knowledge, and that their lives will bring glory to our soon-coming King.”
Robert A. Bahr (Philosophy and English ’64) passed away on February 9, 2018. During his lifetime, Bahr wrote over 800 articles for publications including TV Guide, Parade, Smithsonian, Sports Illustrated, Boy’s Life, Kiwanis, and Popular Mechanics. Anyone interested in honoring his accomplishments may consider a contribution to the Robert and Alice Bahr Fund, the Kinsey Institute, Development Office, Indiana University, Morrison Hall 313, 1165 East Third Street, Bloomington, Ind. 47405-3700.
Linda Jonassen/Crumb (’73) and her husband Thomas are currently serving at First Congregational Church of Pomfret, Conn., where Thomas is the senior pastor. Linda would love to hear news from any former classmates. Please write to alumni@tkc.edu for Linda’s email address.
Donald Sanchez (’82) writes, “In addition to working security at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, I am a principal consultant with Threat Suppression, an internationally-acclaimed security company. I had the privilege of being invited to speak at the Hartford Police Department’s annual Mini-Academy in Hartford, Wis. The chief of police of the Hartford Police Department is an elder in his church and wanted to address church security. I was able to present our 8-hour comprehensive church safety and security courses to over 400 pastors and clergy, as well as members of the law enforcement community including agents from the FBI and members of local SWAT teams. I’m happy to say that a professor from Concordia University who attended the conference at the Mini-Academy invited me back this summer to present to the Lutheran Synod.”
